Pressure Sensitive Primary Device
Most pressure measuring devices use elastic members for sensing pressure at the
primary stage.
These elastic members are of many types and converted the pressure into mechanical
displacement which is later converted into an electrical form using a secondary transducer.
The principal of working of these devices is explained as the fluid whose pressure is to be
measured is made to press the pressure sensitive element and since the element is an
elastic memberane it deflects causing a mechanical displacement. The displacement is
proportional to the pressure applied. The displacement is then measured with the help of
electrical transducer (secondary transducer).
The output of the electrical transducers is proportional to the displacement and hence
to the applied input pressure.
The commonly used pressure sensitive devices are;-
1.Bourdon Tube
2.Bellows
3.Diaphragm
